‘Unhappy’ BCCI admonishes Ravindra Jadeja for irresponsibility towards fitness and health ahead of World Cup

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s knee injury has left the team combination and the Board of Control for cricket in India very upset and the BCCI are not happy about it.

“We are not happy about Jadeja’s injury. He should have thought about the World Cup in adventurous activities. But he was not responsible and did not think that the World Cup is coming. We are not happy about this action by Jadeja,” a source told ANI.

Jadeja injured his right knee and was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 after playing the first two games of the event against Pakistan and Hong Kong. Earlier on Tuesday, it was revealed that Jadeja’s knee surgery was successful and the all-rounder will soon begin rehabilitation.

Jadeja took to Instagram on Tuesday to give fans a glimpse of the same. “The operation was successful. There are many people I have to thank for their support and dedication – BCCI, my teammates, coaches, physiotherapists, doctors and the fans.

“I will start my rehab soon and try to get back there as soon as possible. Thank you everyone for your kind wishes,” Jadeja said in a post.

Jadeja was having a solid Asia Cup 2022 until he got injured. In the first game against Pakistan he played a 35-goal winner and registered numbers of 0/11 in two overs. In the next game against Hong Kong he didn’t bat but took 1/15 with the ball and caught really well.

The star all-rounder is having a good 2022 so far, with both racquet and ball. In nine T20Is this year, Jadeja has hit 201 runs in eight innings with a 50.25 average. His best single score this year is 46* in the format. He has also taken five wickets, with best numbers of 1/15.

In three Tests this year, he has 328 runs in five innings for an 82.00 average. He smashed two centuries in the sport’s longer format this year. His best score is 175* which he achieved against Sri Lanka earlier this year. He has also taken 10 wickets in this format with best numbers of 5/41.

In three ODIs this year, he has 36 runs in two innings with a 36.00 average. His best score in format this year is 29. He has also won a wicket in format this year.

Earlier on Saturday ahead of India’s Super Four clash with Pakistan, India head coach Rahul Dravid announced that Jadeja had sustained a knee injury and was ruled out of the 2022 Asia Cup as a result. Axar Patel, another bowling all-rounder, has been announced as his replacement.
