The 74th annual Hudson Home & Garden Tour takes place June 17-18, with a few changes but retaining much of the charm and tradition of the previous tours.
The schedule for Friday 10:00am – 7:00pm and Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm is a change, also the ticket purchase day and garden shop/tea room are now located at East Wood Elementary School, 120 N .Hayden Pkwy.
Co-Chair Bronwyn Pierson expects huge support for the 2022 tour as “we all look at our homes and farms differently after spending so much time in them over the past two years. The tour will provide plenty of inspiration for homeowners looking to make some changes. Also, we all love to see beautiful spaces.”
The tour includes seven houses with outdoor living spaces, gardens and outbuildings accompanying several of the tour destinations. From modernized century homes and coach houses with guest suites to a remodeled barn converted for modern living to a modern Old World Williamsburg style building to first floor home extensions and renovated living areas, the tour has something for everyone .
Each home will also feature floral arrangements created by Hudson Garden Club members using natural materials and cut from local gardens. “Many of our attendees have commented over the years that they like the unique and indigenous arrangements as much as the homes and gardens,” said Pierson.
Plein air painters can be found throughout the properties as they capture the natural and architectural beauty of the tour stops on canvas. The artwork is available during an evening reception on Saturday, June 18 at Hudson Fine Art and Framing, 160 N. Main St.
Advance tickets ($35) are available online and at ACME Fresh Market (cash/check only at 116 W. Streetsboro St.) along with purchase of drive-up tickets ($40) on tour days.
At East Wood Elementary School, visitors can visit the Garden Shop with perennials for the garden and thousands of treasures for the home and yard – all at flea market prices. The store is open to the public without a tour ticket. and patrons can also enjoy the Hudson Society of Artists’ Clothesline Art Show. The complimentary tea room is open from 1pm to 4pm for refreshment after the tour and Garden Shop.
A buffet lunch is also available at The Country Club of Hudson, 2155 Middleton Road, with advance purchase and day tickets (if available). The buffet includes homemade bread, seasonal fruit, a selection of salads, herbed chicken breast and Italian focaccia sandwiches, complemented by a selection of mini-desserts. Participants dine on the terrace overlooking the golf course. Details are available at www.hudsongardenclub.org.
Come for the tour and stay to enjoy the Hudson Festivals Days, including the Ice Cream Social and Screen on the Green on the evening of June 17; the Hudson Farmers Market and Plein Air Artists Reception on June 18; or any of the restaurants in historic downtown Hudson.
Proceeds from the tour will support the Garden Club’s annual scholarships, grants, school programs, mentoring workshops and community projects.
