Fashion: Snout & Above – Hindustan Times

People have been dressing up their dogs for decades. However, where in India you only saw celebrities like Paris Hilton with her Chihuahua Tinkerbell adorned in designer clothes in her designer bags, the phenomenon has only increased in recent years.

As more and more people bring dogs into their homes and accept them as family members, it’s only natural to treat them the way one would treat their children. Pampering them in grooming salons, getting them the best groceries the market has to offer, and dressing them up in fancy outfits: it has become a form of self-expression and makes many people feel connected to their pets .

Do all dogs respond well to clothing? No, but some love them and it shows. Here are some enthusiastic dog parents who style their dogs in adorable clothes and accessories and have unique tastes.

Pay attention to the fabric of your pet’s clothing

When summer comes, we all jump into our favorite light and airy clothes. The same goes for Preeti Sood and her dog Bruno. “It’s fun to compete with my dogs,” she says.

When buying clothes for the pet, it is important to pay attention to the material. Preeti is aware of this and tells us that she “always gets light, movement-friendly and skin-friendly clothes made of cotton and linen; these are also biodegradable. Avoid polyester as it does not allow air to pass through and can therefore cause clothing or bedding to ‘heat up’.”

Does Bruno have as much fun as his owner? “He loves to wear clothes and he knows it’s time to go out when I approach his closet. I think he feels most comfortable in shirts and t-shirts, but also loves his cozy winter clothes,” Preeti tells us.

Whoa crazy

How colors complement personality

Four-year-old Irish Setter Junior has a penchant for cloths. He and his parent/owner, Aanchal Bhalla, are often seen with matching scarves that complement their personalities. “He loves to flaunt his long locks, so a bow is his favorite outfit,” says Aanchal.

Junior’s wardrobe changes with the weather. In the summer, scarves are his main attire since he is a large dog with beautiful long hair, and in the winter, Aanchal gets brightly colored coats. She loves shopping for him at Heads Up For Tails.

Each dog has its own style

Coco and Gucci are siblings, but that doesn’t mean they wear coordinated outfits all the time. While Coco’s outfits typically feature written messages reflecting his connection to people, Gucci’s outfits are inspired by his fun-loving and active nature.

Both wardrobes consist of elegant trendy outfits in bright colors. Gucci hates wearing shirts in the summer and usually goes out with a regular tie or bow tie. Sweaters and socks in winter are a hit with both doggos.

Their clothing is purchased from various online portals such as That Dog In Tuxedo and Heads Up For Tails, as well as from local pet shops. They each have their favorite outfits and they are both black!

Coco’s favorite outfit reads “I love my humans” while Gucci’s favorite outfit is a cozy black hoodie.

Mix and match

Comfort comes first, but style remains essential

Royce lives with his humans Elisha and Zaniah Wadhwani. Elisha is a fashion designer and Royce’s wardrobe benefits directly from that. “He’s quite possessive about his clothes, and once he’s undressed, he holds onto them,” says Elisha. As you can see in this photo, all three go together. Royce’s outfit was actually purchased from a human clothing store and modified by Elisha!

Royce has a diverse wardrobe full of different colors and patterns. His entire family invests in what he wears: “Each family member takes what they find attractive,” says Elisha. Comfort and fit are paramount; style comes later.

Royce likes to wear sweaters and t-shirts and owns a lot of clothes from Heads Up For Tails and other different brands online. “We’re trying to find styles he’s never worn before!” says Elisa.

Clothes can be delicious too

Did this pooch come straight out of Hogwarts? Jamun and Rittika like to mix and match their outfits as seen in this photo. Jamun may not have read all seven Harry Potter books, but she is clearly a Gryffindor devotee.

Rittika doesn’t have a favorite brand when it comes to shopping for her dog, but when she comes across something cute and whimsical that matches Jamun’s personality, she brings it straight home. “Comfort comes first,” says Rittika. “I can’t let my fur baby walk around in a warm jacket in 48° heat!”

How does Jamun feel about wearing clothes? “She likes them so much that she snacks on them a lot!”

It’s never too late to be fashionable

is that a ballerina Close! It’s Cuteay, bobbing around in her baby pink tutu and staying true to her name. Karan Nambiar, her owner/parent tells us that she is great with clothes and he was impressed with how comfortably she rocked the tutu and how happy she was during the shoot. “Maybe it’s time to step up your fashion game!”

Cuteay doesn’t wear clothes every day. Karan tells us that she’s more of an event costumer and a natural streaker. Her clothes are mostly sourced from Amazon and local doggy stores because “She’s not a brand-conscious diva!”

Well she definitely kills like one! We can almost imagine her doing pirouettes. Or should we say paw rouettes?

Dusty Singh the Cockapoo can be seen in a large black and white bow complementing his striped sweater and emphasizing the cuteness of his brown coat. His owner, Nandini Singh, thinks he likes his clothes to be soft and light colored.

Since Dusty is only six months old, he hasn’t had a chance to give his opinion on clothes yet. Nandini and her two boys look forward to getting him a small winter wardrobe full of sweaters and sweatshirts. So far they have shopped at Heads Up For Tails and have found it very convenient.
