The 2022 Homestyle Garden competition begins on June 3rd

Gardening’s popularity continues to be sky-high, and it’s finally warm enough to get outside and dig in the dirt. Homestyle is celebrating the season with the Homestyle Garden Photo Contest 2022 sponsored by English Gardens. From June 3rd to August 22nd you can send in pictures of your garden (this year’s pictures only please) and the weekly winners will be announced from June 10th to August 26th. The weekly winners win a house or garden book. Each week’s top winners will then compete for the grand prize – a $200 gift certificate to English Gardens – by online voting by Homestyle readers in September. Lighthouse hosting annual Rent Party event

Lighthouse, a Pontiac-based nonprofit dedicated to tackling homelessness and poverty, is hosting its sixth annual Rent Party event on June 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Arden Park-East Boston Edison Historic District of Detroit, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Featuring tours of historic Arden Park homes, stage and backyard performances throughout the neighborhood, a walking tour dinner, and music from some of the top local jazz artists, this block party will raise funds to support community housing efforts. Franklin Garden Walk on June 8th

The Franklin Garden Club, a branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden Association, presents the annual Franklin Garden Walk on June 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Participants will be able to tour several gardens in Franklin and the surrounding towns and have the opportunity to talk to the owners/gardeners about their inspiration. Proceeds support horticultural, educational and environmental causes at the local, state and national levels. Celebrate ceramics in person at the Pewabic House & Garden Show June 9-12. “After two years as a virtual event, we are extremely excited to bring back this popular live celebration,” Executive Director Steve McBride said in a press release. The 32nd annual show kicks off on June 9 with a ticketed preview party benefit that includes cocktails, a walkway dinner, live music and an auction. The participants will be the first to buy the new releases of the summer collection. Other weekend highlights include the latest glazes from Pewabic and a new tile from Postcards from Detroit, alongside current pieces from more than 50 artists.
