London house with garden for sale for £750,000 – but it needs lots of TLC

If you need proof of just how inflated property prices have become in our capital, look no further than this £750,000 London property.

From first impressions, it doesn’t seem too strange that this red brick house can fetch such a high price. However, look within and you may feel differently.

Located on leafy Streatham Hill in south London, the terraced house has four bedrooms, two reception rooms and a decent garden to the rear (decent by urban standards, anyway).

But inside you can see where work needs to be done – and a lot of work is required.

The kitchen needs a complete remodel as the doors are hanging off the cabinets and a thick layer of dirt is covering the walls and floors.

It’s similar in the bathroom too. Photos show a separate toilet with cracks and stains on the china and tiles that appear to be from the wars.

Peeling plaster and wallpaper are everywhere, and the garden — full of overgrown shrubs and weeds — has seen better days.

But aside from the scale of the renovations, there’s a lot of potential here.

For the right person, this place would be a wonderful fixer-upper (Pic: Savills)

The right person would be able to bring back the character of this home, with features such as high ceilings, central heating and original fireplaces that make it ripe for a makeover.

A DIY savvy buyer would be able to make this place their own and take the place from a run down to a bespoke beautiful home inside and out.

The large garden behind the house

Agent Savills notes in the listing: “The property is in need of modernization, giving the buyer an ideal opportunity to carry out work to their own specifications.”

Its location is also a selling point. The house is within walking distance of Streatham High Road and Tooting Bec Common, with Streatham Hill, Tulse Hill and Balham stations close by to get you into the center in minutes.

On a leafy residential street, you have city amenities with a suburban feel.

And you know what they say; Buy the worst house on the best street to get the best bang for your buck. Could this trait be the unicorn fixer upper for you?
