The couple got in touch Chelsea Flower Show Winner Marcus Barnett to create a two-story “fairytale garden” that makes the most of her two-acre property while maintaining privacy and security for her family – and the end result is stunning.

Pictures released when the couple submitted their planning application showed Marcus had designed an outer garden consisting of wild meadow grass and an orchard with 23 trees, along with two vegetable patches, a 60-foot croquet lawn and a lake.
While images shared on Instagram by David, Victoria and their children revealed incredible features such as a football pitch and sauna, the finished design was a compromise on their original plans, with some elements rejected by local council.

Proposals for an outdoor seating area for entertaining were rejected and replaced with a 10ft wide pergola that can be removed if necessary, while their original swimming pool plan was also rejected. The family now has a natural swimming pond, which recycles water from the main house and is situated in one of the courtyards, so it cannot be seen from the street.

The family has a sauna and plunge pool
The couple’s son Romeo Beckham previously revealed a view of the pool area in an Instagram post showing how it sits in a walled garden, with colorful plants and trees surrounding it and a gate leading to the rest of the garden.

Other additions the family have made to the garden include the creation of an area for multiple beehives after David took up beekeeping as a hobby during lockdown, a tennis court which has been converted into a football pitch for Romeo and a traditional Estonian sauna and a plunge pool.

The Cotswolds garden consists of two zones
The Beckhams divide their time between ownership of the Cotswolds, a luxurious penthouse in Miami and a London town house. While their Holland Park home doesn’t benefit from a garden as large as their country retreat, they do have a relaxing outdoor space, where photos have previously shown them fastening strings of lights to the trees and setting up a teepee on the lawn have for their children to play on.
