London is known for its ruthless rental market, but this so-called rental property will be depressing news for those trying to secure a home in the capital.
A dated caravan intended for touring, parked in a homeowner’s garden in Barnet, north London, is currently being advertised to renters for a whopping £790 a month.
Described as a self contained garden studio, it has a bedroom and studio style kitchen and it’s safe to say the living spaces are quite cramped as the washing machine is right next to the bed.
A tightly packed campervan parked in someone else’s garden in Barnet is currently available for hire for a whopping £790 a month
Next to the mobile home there is a small outdoor area with two chairs and a round table. The owners added some decoration by hanging a picture on their garden fence
The double bed is crammed into one end of the motorhome, with the washing machine right next to it.
Next up is the kitchen – an oven with stove top, a small sink and a refrigerator.
There is storage space above the kitchen and the bed – which is especially handy given the lack of a wardrobe or drawers.
Next to the entrance there is a chest of drawers and a portable heater to keep you warm at night.
The tiny accommodation has a small kitchen with stove, oven and sink, a washing machine and a separate toilet with shower
On the other side of the caravan is a very compact bathroom containing a toilet, small shower, sink and storage cupboards.
Outside, between the garden fence and the entrance to the mobile home, there is a table and chairs for al fresco dining.
However, owners can legally rent out a caravan on their property as long as they have planning permission.
The Beechcroft Avenue property is advertised as “cute and available in the heart of Golders Green” and “ideal for a working single”.
The garden where the motorhome is parked is in a leafy part of Barnet, north London, just minutes from the tube
The camper has its own toilet and shower and storage space which is small but functional. It also comes with all bills and WiFi included
Despite being a caravan, the rental costs £790 a month – £266 more than the average UK rental of £524 and equal to the London average of £794, according to rental website SpareRoom.
However, all bills and WiFi are included in the price. A security deposit of £911.53 is required for the caravan, which is the five week maximum rental allowed by law.
The minimum rental period is one year, so you need to be sure that caravan life is for you before signing the rental agreement.
The RV is not pet friendly and allows students.
At the rear of the motorhome, which has storage and a microwave, the owners have installed a double bed as a sleeping area
