Prince William meets a ‘most honoured’ lady Deborah James for ‘tea and champagne’ in her garden as she raises £5million

Deborah James has shared a series of snaps with Prince William after the Duke of Cambridge visited her at their family home.

It was revealed earlier today that Deborah – who is tragically dying of colon cancer – has raised a staggering £5million for Cancer Research in just days, prompting people to campaign for her to be made a Dame.

Deborah, 40, shared photos with the prince on Instagram and gushed about how “surreal” it was to meet the 39-year-old royal.

“Prince William actually came to our family home today!! I am deeply honored that he joined us for afternoon tea and champagne where he not only spent a great deal of time talking to all my family but also honored me with my damehood.” She began.

It’s quite surreal to have a royal visit home and yes you can imagine the cleaning antics and prep got out of hand – but it was all irrelevant because William was so nice and put us all at ease.

“As President of Royal Marsden, he is clearly passionate about improving oncology outcomes. It was a very special day for my whole family where memories will last a lifetime. He’s always welcome back!”

One photo showed Deborah sitting in a lawn chair with William kneeling beside her, while another snap showed the couple with Deborah’s husband Sebastian Bowen and their two children, Hugo, 14, and Eloise, 12.

Another photo showed the mother-of-two proudly showing off her well-deserved damehood ribbon.

Prince William’s visit comes after Deborah announced earlier this week that she is now receiving hospice care from home.

The heartbreaking post read: “The message I never wanted to write. We’ve tried everything, but my body just won’t cooperate.

“My active care has ended and I have now been placed in a home hospice with my incredible family around me and the focus is on making sure I am not in pain and spending time with them.”

Describing her current health, she said, “No one knows how long I have left, but I can’t walk, I sleep most of the time and most of the things I took for granted are pipe dreams.”

Deborah went on to ask people to “buy me a drink to see me out of this world” by donating to the Bowel Babe Fund, which has raised millions for charity.
