Taylor retained her undisputed lightweight title while Puerto Rico’s Serrano suffered only her second loss of a career and her first since 2012. She now has a career record of 42-2 while Taylor has 21 wins from 21 fights.

The two went the distance of the fight with the result ultimately resulting in a split decision. Two of the judges gave Taylor the win 97-93 and 96-93, while the last judge awarded Serrano a 96-94 win.

The fight was promoted by Jake Paul and Eddie Hearn, with Paul hoping to place a $1 million bet on the fight only to have it rejected – promoters cannot place bets on their own fights.

This was the first time a women’s fight had headlined an event in New York, and it will also have been the biggest payday in a women’s fight to date.

After such a phenomenal night, Boxing World has begun reporting on a potential rematch that could take place in Taylor’s home country of Ireland.

On the momentous night, both fighters took home a healthy wallet, but here’s everything you need to know about how much the fight was worth and how much Taylor was able to take away.

How much did Katie Taylor make from the fight?

The prize money for the fight was set at $1 million. Promoters Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul said the two boxers would take home seven-figure sums.

It’s likely that much of that number will come from pay-per-view earnings.

Aside from boxing, Taylor spends much of her time working as an ambassador for Temple Street Charity. This is an Ireland based charity that supports sick children and their families.

Speaking of the charity, Taylor said, “Temple Street is a truly amazing place full of incredible little warriors and wonderful, caring staff who do such extraordinary work. While it is heartbreaking to see what some of the children are going through, their courage and bravery are truly inspiring to me.

“I’m happy to help wherever I can. I will continue to raise awareness of the great work being done on Temple Street.”

Will there be a rematch between Taylor and Serrano?

After the game, Taylor was asked about the possibility of a rematch, to which she replied, “Absolutely. We have to repeat that.

“It was an absolute war for 10 rounds. I’m grateful to be in this position and to have sold out Madison Square Gardens. Look what we just did.

“I said before that when you think of Madison Square Gardnes you think of Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier, but now everyone will think of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.”
