Ashley McBryde revealed the heartfelt reason she decided to skip that 2022 CMT Music Awards — though she was nominated for her collaboration with Carly Pearce.

Only speak to HELLO! USAshley revealed she will be watching the ceremony at home with her mother instead, after reuniting with her family for the first time in over a year.

“I won’t be able to walk [to the CMT Awards] this time. I haven’t seen my family; I didn’t see her over the holidays so it’s been over a year since I’ve seen my family.” She told us.

Explaining that she finally got a few days off from her busy work schedule before heading to the UK for her tour, Ashley chose to spend some quality time with loved ones rather than snog the best country music.

“While we have this little tiny break before we head to the UK it’s four or five days and the CMT Awards is during that time so I’ll be watching with my mum that night,” he said Martha Divine said hitmaker.

She added: “This will also be special as we rarely see awards shows together – and Carly [Pearce] will be [at the CMT Awards] if we win.”

Should the duo pick up the prize, Ashley still plans to celebrate the win at home. “I’ve behaved really well this year, which sounds kind of lame,” she told us. “For the CMTs [if we win] It would be nice to let my extensions down a bit.”

Ashley and Carly are nominated Community video of the year

Though she missed this year’s ceremony, Ashley has not lost the importance of the CMT Music Awards — country music’s only fan-voted awards ceremony.

Without [the fans] who vote, we have absolutely nothing to do – we have no work”, she said, explaining: “We can’t sit around for a year and see each other’s plays [so] it’s a wonderful awards ceremony.”

Ashley’s latest album Never Will (Warner Music Nashville) is out now. Their UK tour begins Sunday May 1st and runs through Tuesday May 10th. Tickets are available from now.
