What is the Travel Man series?

That tv show takes an alternative look at how visitors might spend 48 hours at some of the world’s most popular short-break destinations.

The trip is led by Travel Man, and he is always accompanied by a famous face.

The Channel 4 series is now in its 10th series but this is the first series to be presented by comedian and presenter Joe Lycett.

The five-episode series began with a Christmas special that aired December 27, 2021.

During this episode, Lycett embarked on his maiden voyage as a Travel Man to visit Iceland for an extended 96 hours.

He was joined by comedian and Strictly Come Dancing 2020 winner Bill Bailey and the duo enjoyed outdoor bathing, volcanoes, the Northern Lights and snowflake bread.

The program returned to Channel 4 on Monday 4 April.

During the second episode, Lycett was joined by comedian James Acaster for 48 hours in the Spanish part of the Basque Country, where they visited the cities of Bilbao and San Sebastian for the price of one.

Where else will Joe Lycett and his celebrity companions go during Series 10?

The next three episodes of Travel Man: 48 Hours In will air on Channel 4 at 8.30pm on the next three consecutive Monday nights.

The third episode, which will air April 11, sees Lycett visiting the Croatian city of Split with comedian, actress and author Aisling Bea.

You will walk the dog, go paddling and also visit a frog taxidermy museum.

The fourth episode will be shown on April 18th.

Lycett is joined by Mo Gilligan on a Cypriot odyssey as they devour the local delicacy Halloumi, ride mushroom boats, visit the Salt and Pepper Museum and sample an exclusive 24-karat gold popsicle.

The fifth and final episode will air on April 25th. Viewers will see Lycett and actress Katherine Parkinson explore the Belgian city of Antwerp by competing in a game of golf before sampling the local beer, having breakfast at a laundromat and heading down into the underground tunnels.

Why was there a delay when Joe Lycett became Travel Man?

Joe Lycett was confirmed as the new Travel Man in July 2019. He was supposed to host the show’s 10th series in 2020, but that didn’t happen coronavirus pandemic.

When confirmed as presenter, Joe Lycett said he was “extremely excited to take on Richard’s brilliant, charming show [Ayoade] nourished”.

He added: “I’m less excited about how often I have to take my shoes off at Birmingham Airport.”
