It all started with the desire of Smythe designers Christie Smythe (above left) and Andrea Lenczner to create the perfect blazer. “We wanted to empower the women who wear them through advanced styling, meticulous tailoring and impeccable construction,” says Smythe. After 15 years, the uptown-based designers have evolved from their signature blazers into a full – and often acclaimed – ready-to-wear collection of pretty, preppy pieces. But her drive to empower women through strong style remains.
“Personal style is the most effective way to express yourself without words,” says Lenczner. “Whether it’s hair and makeup, body art, or clothing and accessories, these conscious choices reflect our self-image and our message to the world about how we want to be perceived.”
Now the two are expanding their fashion empire with their first shop in their beloved Summerhill. “Just like our manufacturing, our first shop should always be close to home,” says Lenczner. “We like to take a close look. It’s a place where we can meet with (our customers) and hear their feedback directly and try new ideas, new products and new partnerships.”
Are you looking for something to spice up your own spring look? Smythe and Lenczner share their top picks for fashion finds from GTA.
